It's the third season in a row I've been assigned to shoot Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul.

This time around we had extra firepower. Five photographers, three editors and  the fabulous, charming and capable Ms Vicky Dearman, (my Assigning Therapist) herself to ensure we chipped off the entire huge shot list and keep track of the many thousands of frames pumping through the work flow.

During the time we were there, thousands of protestors turned out after the death of a boy called Berkin Elvan who died after being in a long coma. He was hit on the head by a Police teargas canister last year. As the protests descended into violent clashes with police in Taksim Square where our hotel was we were evacuated across to the Hilton Bomonti. The next day we were ordered to stay put as all shows were cancelled as a mark of respect, so we had a rare mid-fashion week day off which meant a very busy Saturday of shooting rescheduled shows.

In addition to the frames you see here which are my personal favourites from the backstage element of the brief, we had to cover off the front and back of every look of every show, plus a a long shot list. This time 8037 shots were uploaded across 44 shows.

The final frame here is a shot of the team.
